Needlefelted Critters & More!

Creating Unique and Customized Gifts

What is Needlefelting?

You know how wool is itchy? That’s because the fibers have little ‘hooks’ in them. The specialized needles used to needlefelt have grooves along them that catches those ‘hooks’, so when you stab the wool, it makes a knot. The more you stab the wool, the tighter the knot gets, and I can ‘mold' those knots into shapes.

What do I needlefelt?

I use sheep wool, alpaca wool, and angora rabbit fur that is produced in New England. Sometimes I use pipecleaner/wire for the armature in the dolls. I use photo references for my creepy crawlies, cute critters, and people's beloved pets. I have also drawn and used sketches to recreate 3D figures of original characters & monsters, and, mythological creatures.

Hi, I'm Britt!

Ever since I was a child, I believed giving and receiving homemade gifts were the best because they were made from the heart. When I take a commission, I put as much time, thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and heart into the piece I’m making for you as I do for my own family and friends. Every needlefelt I make is unique and perfect for a personalized gift for you or your someone you love.

Kind Words

“I commissioned Britt from Archanebutterfly to create a needle felt project for me during the fall of last year, after meeting her at a local craft fair. I was impressed with her current work, especially her spiders. I had asked her to make a dozen bobwhite quail, which I intended to include in my family’s gifts for the upcoming holidays. Britt got back to me straight away with pricing and was so kind in asking about my flock of quail. I could she was not only up for the task, but that she took great pride in her work. Britt provided me with examples on sizing and shapes and sent me photos of other birds she had created. As we began to correspond about the project, I also learned about her passion for animals and we had very friendly exchanges of conversation throughout. I was absolutely blown away by her attention to detail and how she provided me with options on specific designs for the female and male quail. I really appreciated that she understood the differences in colors between them. She was also able to do different poses, with wings spanned out and special wing tips to make them look more realistic. Each quail she created was unique, just like the quail in my flock at home. She also labeled each design and each type of wool she planned to use. Britt made sure to ask if I had any allergies to any of the products she would be using. She really did think of everything! Britt is a true professional and a very talented artist. She is patient, kind and just a true pleasure to do business with. The needle felt flock of quail she made me were perfect. They were precious & pristine and exceeded all of my expectations. My family loved them SO much. Britt went above and beyond by offering to add little ornament hooks, as I planned to hang them on small table top trees along with my hand blown quail eggs that I dyed for the holidays. Britt did a truly wonderful job, her work is spectacular and I cannot thank her enough for making my project come to life."
